We were notified today that a court participant that appeared at the Manukau District Court’s arrest court on Tuesday 19th October, has returned a positive result for COVID. While the participant spent most of their time in the court cells, they did appear in person in court room 4 from 10:14am to 10:26am.

If you were in courtroom 4 at the relevant time (Primary contact), a manager has already been in contact with you directly with the following Ministry of Health advice to:

  • Self-isolate for 14 days and get tested immediately, and 5 & 12 days after you were exposed

If you were at the court, but not in court room 4 (Secondary contact) during the relevant time:

  • Testing is strongly encouraged, and
  • Please monitor symptoms
  • More information to come, following investigation of the positive case

For those who were not at the court site at all during the relevant time, please know that steps have been taken to ensure that the Manukau Court is a safe environment for you to return to. These steps include a bio-clean of the entire Manukau Court building including a fog bomb will be completed tonight. Given these measures, the court is closed to everyone – including staff and judiciary until 8am tomorrow morning, so that these cleans can be done.

Be assured your safety is paramount to us.

This is also a reminder to us all of how important it is that we follow the COVID-19 hygiene protocols: wear face coverings, scanning everywhere you go, keeping up physical distancing, and staying home if you are sick. A reminder that only those appearing for the court hearing must be present in court.

See the COVID Jet page for more information on the current Alert Levels and the rules in this area.
