Protection of Personal & Property Rights (PPPR) update for Auckland, Waitakere & North Shore Family court registries

Guidance issued by Fiona Parkes, Manager Justice Services Auckland Civil and Family

Kia ora koutou Family Court Lawyer reps - please pass on to your colleagues also.

I hope you are all staying safe and well.

I would just like to provide an update regarding the above legislation for the lock down period relating to the above 3 courts.

We have been working through PPPR files case managed by the Applications Management Team in Auckland covering Auckland, Waitakere and North Shore District Court with a limited number of staff and dealing with matters that obviously require urgent steps due to the need for personal orders or other safety measures.

We have one Judge on site dealing with a limited number of urgent files and presiding over all the mental health hearings this week. There is scope for Judges to deal with other matters remotely but there are only a handful of staff available to prepare this work on site. At this stage future non urgent Court dates are not available until there is certainty about when files can be dealt with and a full complement of staff are able to return to work.

If you regard your file to be urgent and it requires some priority please do not hesitate to email the registry (ApplicationsManagement-Team@justice.govt.nz) with brief supporting reasons. Please remember that as above, we are presently operating with a very reduced number of staff, and Judges, dealing with high priority work focussed on urgent safety.

Please note the above is only in respects for Auckland, Waitakere and North Shore PPPR matters. For PPPR matters case managed by Manukau which includes Papakura and Pukekohe matters please continue to email the CMT-Man generic email CMT-MAN@justice.govt.nz
