ADLS Overview

We exist to support and connect our membership base of around 5,000 former and practising lawyers, legal executives, law students and members of the judiciary, based all over New Zealand.

We are equally as proud of our 140-year heritage as we are focused on the future of our profession, to ensure that a career in the law remains one of New Zealand’s most sought after and prestigious career options, and that young lawyers are supported in the early years of their careers, successfully transitioning from student life to the workplace.

Our members have an unsurpassed knowledge of the law and a commitment to make that available to the public. We operate 17 legal committees specialising in different practice areas, deliver a highly regarded CPD programme, produce and maintain more than 150 widely used and trusted legal forms including the Agreement for Sale and Purchase of Real Estate and the Commercial Deed of Lease, operate a successful online WebForms portal, as well as host an inspired and unmatched calendar of collegiality events to connect the profession.

In addition, we produce a weekly legal magazine; Law News, which is distributed to more than 4,000 subscribers, and a weekly e-bulletin covering 10 legal cases, subscribed to by almost 10,000 legal professionals. Both publications are provided free to ADLS members.

Our CPD is market-leading, with everything lawyers need to both complete their annual CPD requirements and record their CPD progress through our online CPD Plan and Record tool (free to members).

We are committed to extending our support beyond the Auckland region through regional CPD and collegiality events and delivering our flagship Cradle to Grave conference in the South Island.

Membership with ADLS provides the opportunity to become involved in the work of the organisation, supporting the legal fraternity and contributing to the development of new legislation and regulation, as well as the opportunity to access and save on our considerable range of products and services, through special member pricing across CPD, books and events.
